As a proud member of JA Canada, we inspire the next generation to realize their potential and make a positive impact in their communities. JA (Junior Achievement) works with educators and volunteers to deliver the best hands-on learning experiences in the areas of financial literacy, career readiness and entrepreneurship for grades 5 to 12.
Our programs prepare students for real-world success, help teachers fulfill course learning objectives and give volunteers the opportunity to inspire and empower youth.

About JA Ottawa
Need
Entrepreneurship is a huge engine of economic growth for Canada. According to Statistics Canada, approximately 68% of net new jobs are created by Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs).
However, few opportunities exist for K-12 students to develop key skills and gain real-world experience in the areas of entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and career readiness skills. By fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in K-12, JA Ottawa is empowering young people to become job creators.
Response
In the 2022-23 school year, 13,890 in 63 Ottawa schools took part in JA Programs.
JA Ottawa also delivered 137 programs and events, engaged 213 volunteers and had a total of 38,045 volunteer hours invested!
Impact
For over 10 years, JA volunteers have engaged more than 40,000 Ottawa students in JA programs that provide hands-on, experiential learning activities. Our programs inspire youth to make better financial decisions, explore career pathways, and develop an entrepreneurial mindset
In June 2023, Williams Thottungal, a JA Ottawa student was a recipient of the Seymour Schulich Entrepreneurship Scholarship – a national scholarship awarded by JA Canada. This award is granted to a graduating student who demonstrated how their JA experience has equipped them with the entrepreneurial skills and a mindset that they’ll apply to their future educational and career pathways.
